Could Zamir White out-rush Josh Jacobs this season? One reporter believes there’s a chance.
The Las Vegas running back situation will be one to watch moving forward this season as there are questions surrounding Josh Jacobs not only this year but his future. Las Vegas drafted Zamir White and added Ameer Abdullah to bolster their room.
With Jacobs playing more than usual in the Hall of Fame game, there’s uncertainty with how they will use their backfield. And one reporter is giving the rookie a chance to out-shine Jacobs.
The Athletic‘s Vic Tafur recently spoke on the running back situation and gave White a chance to out-rush Jacobs. Here is what he said on a recent podcast episode via Raiders Beat:
“As far as Jacobs goes, I did think it was surprising just because I don’t really buy that you don’t know what he had, that you want to see what he can do against Jacksonville’s second string doesn’t really make sense to me,” Tafur said on the State of the Nation podcast. “He has a history of being injury prone. I think you want to keep him fresh if possible. I don’t know what you would gain from doing that.”
“Going in I thought it was going to be a committee approach [at running back] and now I definitely do,” Tafur continued. “In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Zamir White had more yards rushing than Josh Jacobs does this season.”
The Raiders are getting set to take on Minnesota in Week 1 of the preseason on Sunday and the backfield is now something to keep an eye on.
