Per multiple reports, the league owners approved for Tom Brady to become a partner with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday. The news had been a long time in coming for the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Brady will have a 5% stake in the Raiders. The partial ownership in the Raiders will mean Brady cannot unretire to play quarterback in the league.

“Tom Brady has now been officially approved by the NFL owners as a limited partner of the Raiders,” Rapoport posted on X. “With his 5% stake official (but a total purchase of 10% by Brady and his partner), his playing career is now over.”

Brady posted a message on his X account to share his excitement about owning part of the Raiders.

“I’m incredibly humbled and excited to have been unanimously approved as an owner of the Las Vegas Raiders,” Brady posted. “Throughout my NFL career, I’ve learned that at its core, football is a game of teamwork, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. The Raiders franchise and the city of Las Vegas embody these same values, and I’m honored to become part of that story.”

Brady thanked majority owner Mark Davis for welcoming him into the Raiders’ family. Brady’s goal, like it was when he was playing, is to win a Super Bowl.

“I’m eager to contribute to the organization in any way I can, honoring the Raiders’ rich tradition while finding every possible opportunity to improve our offering to fans… and most importantly, WIN football games.”

The Raiders could use Brady’s expertise in football. The team is 2-4 entering their Week 7 contest against the Los Angeles Rams. The Raiders will be without the WR1 they started the season with after trading Davante Adams to the New York Jets.
