NBA star LeBron James is the leading candidate to be the owner of an expansion team in Las Vegas
LeBron James could soon be a fan-favorite in the city of Las Vegas, that is if the NBA finally expands to Sin City.
With rumors swirling of a potential expansion franchise to bring an NBA team to the city of Las Vegas and James could the top candidate to own the team per an NBA insider. Ric Bucher talked about the situation in a recent podcast episode and revealed that James is in “pole position” to be the owner of the expansion franchise as All Lakers points out:
“LeBron James apparently is in the pole position, to be the owner of the Las Vegas expansion franchise, when Las Vegas and Seattle which I’m told is going to happen as soon as the next TV deals are in place, that those franchises are going to be added to the equation, which has a whole lot of repercussions including the timing of when LeBron decides to step aside and become an owner, rather than a player.”
While commissioner Adam Silver says there are no immediate plans to expand the league, it does appear evident that they will expand in the future.
And with the NFL and NHL already here, the NBA certainly makes sense.
