On Tuesday, the Las Vegas Raiders signed two defenders to the practice squad. The Raiders needed to add depth on defense after a rash of injuries.
The Las Vegas Raiders have injuries on defense
Last week, the Raiders put defensive end Malcolm Koonce on injured reserve for a knee injury. The Raiders planned to rely on Tyree Wilson to play more snaps against the Los And Chargers in Week 1. However, he suffered an injury against the Chargers.
Wilson suffered a knee sprain, and the injury is not believed to be long-term.
The Raiders announced they signed defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson to the practice squad to help with pass-rushing depth.
Raiders sign local native, Kyu Blu Kelly
Per a statement by the Raiders, the team also signed cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly to the practice squad:
Kelly was originally a fifth-round draft pick (157th overall) by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2023 NFL Draft and has also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and Washington Commanders. He has appeared in eight games and recorded five tackles and one tackle for loss.
Blu Kelly is a native of Las Vegas. He went to high school at Bishop Gorman High School. He played college football for Stanford, where he earned second-team All-PAC 12 honors.
