Boy, has a lot changed since ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday that the Las Vegas Raiders have no plans to trade Davante Adams. Following the Raiders’ 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, trade reports have surfaced around the star wide receiver.
Antonio Pierce hinted something was brewing
Head coach Antonio Pierce liked an Instagram post that suggested Adams had played his final snap with the Raiders. (Adams is battling a hamstring injury that kept him out of Sunday’s win over the Browns.) On Tuesday, a report surfaced that the Raiders are calling teams to gauge interest in the receiver.
Per Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Adams would rather be traded from Las Vegas than stay:
“Raiders star WR Davante Adams informed the team that he preferred to be traded, per me and Mike Garafolo. There is nothing imminent, but a situation to watch for sure.”

Davante Adams would like to be reunited with Aaron Rodgers
Per Jordan Schultz, Adams has a preferred destination. He wants to team up with former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in New York:
“Raiders WR Davante Adams has been considering a trade request out of Las Vegas for weeks. Last season, his camp even approached the team about a potential change of scenery, but made no official request. Adams is aware that his contract makes a trade possible, and he has a few preferred destinations if the Raiders decide to move him. The #Jets are one of those teams.”

One can’t argue the Jets have a better quarterback situation than the Raiders. Sans the 2022 season, Adams’ decorated career came with Rodgers and the Packers.
The Raiders should get what they can for a wide receiver that wants out. Frankly, the best option for the Jets and Raiders would appear to be a deal involving pass rusher Haason Reddick. Reddick is holding out from the Jets after the Eagles traded him to New York without a contract extension in place.
Reddick (30) and Adams (31) are close in age. They both have the ability to change a game.
The Raiders’ defense needs pass-rushing help to place alongside Maxx Crosby. Reddick could keep the Raiders in the playoff hunt if Adams wants to make a business decision in a bid for New York.
