The Oakland A’s could take Florida star Jac Caglianone in the 2024 MLB Draft
The Oakland A’s are still a few years away from making their move to Las Vegas but the groundwork for bringing a potential star on their roster could start as early as this July.
With the 2024 MLB Draft taking place in July, the Oakland A’s are set to pick No. 4 overall and should have their choice of a few stud players. Among them could be Florida two-way star Jac Caglianone.
After leading the Gators to another College World Series appearance, Caglianone is mocked to go early. And the Oakland A’s could be that landing spot as Gabe Lacques of the USA Today mocked him there:
If A’s owner John Fisher is excited about famous opposing players like Aaron Judge coming to play in their temporary Sacramento digs, Caglianone, a two-way player, might give Sacto-A’s fans a hometown guy to rally around. While Caglianone may very well be strictly a hitter in the pros, that’s more than enough. He slugged 68 homers the past two seasons and was second only to Condon with 35 this year.
The 21-year-old played first base and also pitched for the Gators in his career. However, in the pros he’s likely to play just the field and hit although there’s a chance he could pitch. Either way, the star power is there with him and it would give the franchise something to build around.
There could be some real excitement coming to Las Vegas in the future with the A’s. And Jac Caglianone could be at the center of all that.
The 2024 begins on July 14th and lasts through the 16th.
