Raiders QB Derek Carr admits he was just a little too aggressive in the Week 1 loss to the Chargers

The Las Vegas Raiders are seeking their first win of the season as they host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 in a battle of winless teams.

As the Raiders fell to 0-1 with the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, there were some things that they need to clean up and get right here in Week 2. And one of those things is turnovers.

Quarterback Derek Carr threw three interceptions in the loss to the Chargers, giving Justin Herbert and that offense extra possessions. But following the game, Carr admitted he was a little ‘too aggressive on some of his throws to open the year with this new Raiders offense.

“We did too many good things and I was way too aggressive,” Carr said following the game via Raider Maven. “We came in with an aggressive mindset, especially with all the weapons that we have. That’s on me, the decisions to be too aggressive in certain moments.”

Being aggressive can work out if you’re careful and with the Raiders having an offense that is expected to take a big leap after acquiring Davante Adams, there really wasn’t too much of a problem for Carr being aggressive other than the turnovers.

Carr did throw for 295 yards and 2 touchdowns but the three picks did doom them Raiders in the end. Now, going into Week 2 he vows to get better.

“We’ll turn on the film and I’ll be better,” Carr said after the game. “I made way too many aggressive decisions when I didn’t have to. That’s what it came down to — me forcing the ball to my guys in moments I didn’t need to.”

And the Raiders are going to need him to get better soon if they want to earn that first win of the season.
