The Raiders are interviewing Luke Getsy for the offensive coordinator job

The Las Vegas Raiders have made their hire at head coach, promoting interim coach Antonio Pierce to the job last week. After the Raiders went 5-4 with Pierce at the helm to close out the season, he earned the head coaching job.

And now he’s ready to fill out his staff.

On Tuesday, a new report from Tom Pelissero states that the Raiders will interview Luke Getsy for their offensive coordinator position. Getsy was fired by the Chicago Bears after two seasons as their offensive coordinator.

Prior to that, he worked in Green Bay under Matt LaFleur, coaching Aaron Rodgers during that time.

The 39-year-old Getsy has over 15 years of experience coaching in the college and NFL ranks. His first time as an offensive coordinator was with the Bears.

Is Luke Getsy a fit for the Las Vegas Raiders?

With Pierce being more of a defensive guy, it’s crucial for the Raiders to get this hire right on the offense.

In Chicago, Getsy’s offense struggled both seasons. The Bears had Justin Fields as their starting quarterback for both of those seasons and the quarterback didn’t take a big step forward in his development. Or at least to where they wanted him to be at.

However, one big positive under Getsy in Chicago was the team’s rushing offense. They finished No. 1 and No. 2 under Getsy from 2022-23.

With questions at quarterback, the Raiders could look to lean on the run game early. That should attract them to Getsy if they do want to lean on the run.
