Belal Muhammad will put his belt on the line in December at UFC 310

Belal Muhammad has been the UFC Welterweight Champion for just under three months now, after beating Leon Edwards in England for the title back in July. And now, he already has bout to defend it.

Dana White announced on Saturday that Belal Muhammad will defend his title at UFC 310 in Las Vegas on December 7th. He will face Shavkat Rakhmonov, a fighter who is 18-0 with 18 finishes and is considered one of the most dangerous fighters in the UFC right now.

The fight will be the main event for a stacked card in Las Vegas:

For Belal Muhammad, this is a quick turnaround. He just won the belt this Summer and will now have to defend it against a tough opponent. But there are no complaints from his side as he’s ready to defend the title.

The Chicago native has worked his way up the division with a 24-3 record in 28 matches including five knockouts and a submission win.

Here’s what ESPN wrote on the fight:

Muhammad, 36, recently won the 170-pound title by defeating Leon Edwards by unanimous decision at UFC 304 in July. His first test as champion will be against a man with a 100% finishing rate.

Rakhmonov, 29, is the UFC’s No. 3 ranked welterweight and has a perfect record of 18-0 with all of his wins coming by knockout or submission. Rakhmonov is coming off of a submission victory over Stephen Thompson in December 2023.

The rest of the UFC 310 card is a big one

While Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov will headline the card, there are also some other big matches as well for the Las Vegas event.

That includes Nick Diaz making his return to the UFC in his first fight since losing to Robbie Lawler in September 2021 by stoppage as he’s set to face off against Vincente Luque. They were scheduled to fight in August in Abu Dhabi but Diaz pulled due to a travel issue for the event.

Below is the full card for the event:

Heavyweight: Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov
Bantamweight: Aljamain Sterling vs Movsar Evloev
