UNLV quarterback Harrison Bailey cracks the Top 100 in this quarterback ranking by Athlon Sports
The UNLV football program is set to open up their 2022 season at home against Idaho State on August 27th in hopes of getting off to a good start. One new face for the Rebels this year is quarterback Harrison Bailey who transferred from Tennessee to UNLV and is expected to start right away.
While the highly-touted prospect didn’t work out with the Volunteers, the hope is that he can find his footing and stand out for UNLV. But where does Bailey rank among all college football quarterbacks?
Athlon Sports released their annual rankings of the top 131 quarterbacks in college football, ranking the starter from each team. And Bailey cracked the Top 100 coming in at No. 94. Here is what Athlon said about Bailey ahead of his first year in Las Vegas:
Bailey is listed here, but Cameron Friel and Doug Brumfield left spring atop the depth chart for third-year coach Marcus Arroyo. This trio of signal-callers should battle deep into the fall for the top spot, but the guess here is Bailey eventually emerges as the No. 1 quarterback. The Georgia native ranked as the No. 99 overall prospect in the ’20 signing class and played in six contests (with three starts) in his first season at Tennessee. During his stint on Rocky Top, Bailey threw for 578 yards and four touchdowns and connected on 70.6 percent of his passes. Both Friel and Brumfield have flashed potential, but Bailey brings the most upside to the lineup.
Bailey played two years at Tennessee, throwing for 594 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions while completing 68% of his passes.
It’s no guarantee Bailey will start right away for UNLV but I imagine he emerges as the top guy here in 2022 at some point.
