LeBron James makes it clear again that he wants an NBA team in Las Vegas
The rumors have swirled about the city of Las Vegas eventually getting an NBA team down the line and now it’s picking up some momentum thanks to one of the game’s biggest stars — LeBron James.
With the NBA playing exhibition games in Las Vegas ahead of the season, James has made it clear that there should be a team in the city eventually. And he wants to be an owner.
On Wednesday, James made that loud and clear when he spoke to the media about the future of the league:
“I would love to bring a team here at some point. That would be amazing. I know Adam is in Abu Dhabi right now, I believe,” James said via ESPN, alluding to the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks’ preseason trip to the United Arab Emirates that Silver is attending. “But he probably sees every single interview and transcript that comes through from NBA players.
“So, I want the team here, Adam. Thank you.”
That’s a message loud and clear from James, a global icon and someone who has been the face of the NBA for years. This isn’t the first time he’s made this known, either.
James has been very vocal in the past about wanting a team in Sin City. And if it ever does happen, it makes sense for him to be connected to it in some way. Ideally, he wants to be an owner when his playing time is over and an expansion team would be perfect.
The NBA has made it known that they are not discussing expansion at this time. But that should change very soon as multiple sources have indicated that Vegas would be a spot to get a team when there is expansion.
