The Las Vegas Aces take Game 1 over the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Playoffs, grabbing the early advantage

Becky Hammon’s Las Vegas Aces squad took advantage of a short-handed Phoenix Mercury team in Game 1 of the WNBA playoffs, taking a 1-0 lead with the 79-63 win.

Backed by Kelsey Plum’s 22 points, the Aces took care of business with a strong fourth quarter to get off to a good start in the playoffs. Chelsea Gray came up big, scoring 9 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter while Jackie Young had 16 points in the win.

Check out highlights of the game below:

The Aces led 42-37 at the break and both teams combined for just 18 points in the third quarter, each scoring 9. But in that fourth quarter, the Aces outscored them 28-17 to pull away with the win.

Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday at 6 pm in Las Vegas.
