A former Super Bowl winner calls for the Raiders to trade star Maxx Crosby
The Las Vegas Raiders are 1-3 on the season after another loss Sunday to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Without quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, the Raiders couldn’t find a way to get it done. Rookie Aidan O’Connell wasn’t awful but it wasn’t enough to get the Raiders back in the win column. And now, as we get ready for Week 5, a former Super Bowl winner is calling for the team to trade their best player.
Richard Sherman spoke on Maxx Crosby during a segment on “The Volume” this week, talking about his standout season again. During the discussion, Sherman stated that he hopes Crosby can land somewhere that can utilize him correctly:
“Maxx Crosby. He deserves a lot of credit, he deserves a lot more credit than he’s getting,” Sherman said. “But he plays for the Raiders, and they always have something that overshadows him. But Maxx Crosby has been an amazing football player in the NFL for a long time. He’s continuing to make an impact week in and week out, I just hope he can get to a team that utilizes him correctly.”
The former defensive back then listed teams that would be ideal fits for Crosby.
“I don’t know if it’s the San Francisco 49ers, the Jets, the Cowboys,” Sherman said. “Somewhere that is going to use him and get the spotlight he deserves because my goodness he’s wasting away in Las Vegas and you hate to see it.”
The 26-year-old Crosby is having another fantastic season for the Raiders, with 4 sacks, 6 QB hits, and 23 total tackles. He’s on his way to another Pro Bowl appearance and has developed into one of the best pass rushers in the game.
Crosby signed a four-year extension worth $94M that will keep him in Las Vegas through 2026. There is an out after this season, but it would make no sense for the team to flat out release him.
The goal for the Raiders should be to build around Crosby and not waste his prime. That appears to be a tough task right now.
