Las Vegas Raiders HC blasts team’s ‘effort’ in 36-22 loss to Panthers

Head coach Antonio Pierce said last week that the Carolina Panthers threw the Las Vegas Raiders a curveball for Week 3 when they announced they were benching Bryce Young for Andy Dalton. The Raiders were unable to adjust for Dalton on Sunday.

Dalton went 26/37 passing for 319 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers’ 36-22 win in the Raiders’ home opener. The Raiders came into the contest with momentum after their upset of the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.

The Las Vegas Raiders didn’t show enough effort

Per the Raiders website, Pierce said after the game that the team didn’t give enough effort to beat the Panthers.

“What we thought was going to work didn’t work,” Pierce added, “and on the grass we didn’t execute, nor did we put forth the effort that we did in games past.”

The Panthers were blown out by their first two opponents of the season by a combined score of 73-13. They had every reason to throw in the towel before Week 3, as the team made a controversial decision to bench their No. 1 pick in the 2023 draft.

Instead, the Panthers stunned the Las Vegas crowd.

Not good enough for Raiders fans

Pierce said the team didn’t play well enough for the fans in attendance.

“It was poor. It was not good enough,” Pierce said. “The crowd was ready, I appreciate the crowd and everybody showing up. They did their part and we did not.”

The Raiders will get another chance to show effort for their home crowd when they play against the 1-2 Browns next Sunday.
